Highly praised for her warm quality of voice and unique timbre, Puerto Rican soprano Larisa Martínez began her music studies at the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico where she studied piano, theory and voice. She later attended the University of Puerto Rico and graduated with high honors with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, while continuing studies at the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico in vocal performance. She made her operatic debut in 2009 as the shepherd boy in Tosca, and in 2012 she was invited to join the American Institute of Music Studies (AIMS) summer vocal program in Austria. Larisa holds a master of music degree from Mannes College at The New School, where she studied with Beth Roberts. While a member of the Mannes Opera Department, Ms. Martinez performed as Corinna in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims under the baton of Maestro Joseph Colaneri. In 2014, she appeared as Musetta in Loft Opera’s critically-acclaimed production of La Bohème. Most recently she was seen as Fire in Bare Opera’s production of L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. She appeared as soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No.4 with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maximiano Valdés. Other roles include, Rosario in Granados’ Goyescas (Bare Opera), Massenet’s Manon (Classic Lyric Arts France), Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Mannes Opera) and Barbarina from Le Nozze di Figaro (Loft Opera, New York). She can also be seen collaborating with Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell on his holiday television special Joshua Bell and Friends.
