Hila Kulik was born in Afula, Israel and began studying piano at the age of 8. She graduated from the Jerusalem Academy in 2010, and after playing with many of the top musicians of Israel, Hila moved to New York in January of 2014, earning her master’s degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in January of 2016.
During the last decade, Hila has performed with some of the greatest jazz musicians in Israel and abroad, including international touring vocalist Noa Nini, saxophonist Antonio Hart (USA), saxophonist Donald Harrison (USA), vocalist Cyrille Aimee (France), trumpeter Michael Varekamp (Netherlands), trumpeter Bria Skonberg (USA), vocalist Pauline Jean (Haiti), trumpeter Wayne Tucker (USA).
She has performed in many prestigious festivals and concerts in Israel and abroad including the Red Sea International Jazz Festival in Eilat (Israel), the Northwest Jazz Festival, The Jazz Cruise, JALC Shanghai, China (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Blue Note Jazz Clubs (Milano, Italy, and Beijing, China), the “Hot Jazz Concerts” in Israel: Cannonball Adderley Tribute (2017); Charlie Parker Tribute (2016); Louis Armstrong tribute (2015); Nina Simone Tribute (2014); and others. Hila has participated in several Jazz competitions and conferences such as the International Composition Competition in Rostov, Russia (2012), the AICF Foundation Scholarship Competition (2010-2011, 2006-2007), the Jerusalem Academy of Music Scholarship Competition (2009), the International Jazz Conference IASJ (Luzern, Switzerland) and more. Currently, Hila works as an advisor and coordinator for the jazz program at the Aaron Copland School of Music, in addition to performing with her own band, and well-established jazz musicians in New York and abroad.
