Meet our Artist of the Week – Gracie Terzian, who will be a featured artist in our MusicTalks: LGBTQ Soiree on October 6 WeWork Chelsea! For Tix: goo.gl/sckvJo
We sat down with Gracie to get to know her a little bit better and this is what we learned!

MT: How did you become a jazz singer/ukulele player?

Gracie: I grew up listening to jazz music and have always loved it, so singing just happened without much thought or intention. I first began playing the harp ukulele – I found a video of it on YouTube and thought it sounded beautiful so I ordered one online. Once I began playing the harp ukulele, I began playing normal ukuleles as well.

MT: Who are some artists who inspire you in performance and in your original material?

Gracie: It’s hard to say because I don’t really try to be like anyone when I perform or make music. But of course different performers have influenced me and I appreciate and study many small details about lots of different artists. There are really too many to name in general… but I’m really into Bing Crosby at the moment.

MT: Did you grow up in a musical family/ environment?

Gracie: Neither of my parents are very musical, but they encouraged me to take music lessons and to listen to music. My father listened to a lot of jazz so I did hear it at home growing up.

MT: Do you have any special skills or talents?

Gracie: I’ve been an actor for most of my life, and I do dance and acrobatics… Does that count?

MT: Who would you most like to perform with given the opportunity?

Gracie: Elvis:)
